The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They are equipped with motors that are top-of-the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the top model) they utilize smart mapping to create detailed floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like cords and furniture leg. The robots also come with the feature of Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept in removing dog hair. There are some issues, however, that prevent them from being our top option. One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to get caught up in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.
However, it's a good choice, especially if you want to save money on a iRobot Roomba and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and works while you're at work or in school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you're required to, the mopping pad can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has a powerful suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, though it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensor technology that can keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to ensure better cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and set up zones through the well-designed app. Its battery life is average compared to similar models.

Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds, shoes and cables.
It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically emptys into its base, and also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming it, something we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combinations.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
With a sleek circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba rather than the boxes, this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive designs in our reviews. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It comes with advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads autonomously).
It's also the only robot vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has a simple mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in the mornings prior to work or during the night when you are trying to sleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, though it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally capable and more attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable, but it will cost you more and produce more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features that let you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes care of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create the floor plan and detect obstacles, making it more efficient than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection however, it wasn't foolproof in our testing and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with the degree of dirt they are.
For larger houses it's worth looking for a model with zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a particular area of your house using the app or voice controls. A stairway mode is useful if you have a large furniture. For busy families, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off can be extremely useful.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It is a good vacuum cleaner, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which is cleaner than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tried. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app guides you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, arrange the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance. The app also provides access to a host of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It has an impressive 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs to remove pet hair. And you can set up a spot clean that intensely cleans a localized area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like adorable eyes. It does a good job vacuuming, but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
